MTSU women's basketball coach Rick Insell has been "pleading" for his team to compete.
He had no complaints Thursday night at Murphy Center.
The Lady Raiders rallied from a seven-point second half deficit and made all the key plays down the stretch to knock off Charlotte 72-67 before a crowd of 3,698.
MTSU, playing without Olivia Jones (who has left the team) for the second game, has now won back-to-back games without her and improved to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in Conference USA play. Charlotte dropped to 9-6 and 2-2.
Freshman Alex Johnson gave MTSU a 67-65 lead with a basket in the paint with1:03 left, but the Lady Raiders had to stave off a valiant effort by the 49ers down the stretch.
