Makayla Timmons' desperation 3-pointer from 35 feet out at the buzzer lifted Old Dominion to a 61-58 win against Middle Tennessee in front of 3,758 at Murphy Center Saturday night.
The Lady Monarchs (7-10, 3-2) had taken a 58-57 lead on Destinee Young's 15-footer with 12 seconds remaining, but Middle Tennessee went inside to freshman post Alex Johnson on the other end, who drew a foul and went to the line.
Johnson hit the first of two free throws to tie the score, 58-58, before Timmons' desperation heave sent Old Dominion players into a celebration at midcourt.
