MTSU chances of winning the Conference USA East Division championship took a decisive blow Saturday when the Blue Raiders dropped a crushing 44-43 double-overtime decision to rival Western Kentucky.
While the two teams are tied at 2-1 in the standings behind FIU (3-0) and ODU (2-0), MTSU will lose out on any head-to-head tie-breaking scenario against the Hillstoppers.
Granted, FIU and Old Dominion are 3-0 and 2-0 in conference play, respectively, but each certainly has losses headed in their direction.
The loss to the Hilltoppers was two-fold in that one could argue MTSU should have won in regulation, yet was lucky to get to overtime in the first place.
