MTSU's football team became bowl eligible for the fifth consecutive year last Saturday night by pulling out a 42-35 victory at Florida International.
A defense, which was somewhat maligned, saved the day when linebacker DJ Sanders intercepted a pass and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown with 1:22 remaining in the game.
As seems to be the norm with games at FIU, it was a wild one. The Blue Raiders jumped out to a 21-0 lead and appeared headed for a blowout victory.
However, FIU's offense began to click and had the Blue Raiders on their heels the remainder of the game.
