LAS CRUCES, N.M. - MTSU couldn't overcome an early deficit on the road Friday evening, falling 6–1 in the series opener at Presley Askew Field. With the loss, the Blue Raiders drop to 19–23 overall and 4–12 in Conference USA play.
NM State struck early with three runs in the first inning, aided by a of defensive miscue from MTSU. The home side added another run in the second before Hayden Miller put the Blue Raiders on the board with a solo home run in the top of the third—his ninth of the season.
