Every week, NCAA.com's Starting Five recognizes some of the top women's basketball players in the country based on their performances, and Middle Tennessee senior forward Gabby Lyon made the list this week.
Lyon earned a spot on the first weekly honor of the season by virtue of becoming the Fans' Choice in online Twitter voting Tuesday. Lyon captured almost 50 percent of the votes to beat out Jordin Canada, UCLA; Crystal Dangerfield, UConn; and A'ja Wilson, South Carolina.
"This really comes as quite a surprise to me," Lyon said. "I appreciate our fans and everyone who took the time to vote for me on Twitter.
