MURFREESBORO - Lightning's Reading Club Challenge once again returns for the 2017 school year with a few exciting additions to encourage reading in middle Tennessee elementary schools. The reading program, launched in 2014, issues a challenge from Middle Tennessee mascot, Lightning, to read for 20 minutes a night for 15 days during the month of October.
Elementary students can keep track of their progress on a "reading log", and when completed, turn into their teacher. Each student in participating Rutherford County Schools and Murfreesboro City Schools will then receive a "Lighting's Reading Club Certificate of Achievement", with the bottom half of the certificate redeemable for a complimentary ticket to the Blue Raider football game vs.
