Jags rookie Mathers taken off on stretcher, but says he's OK

Running back I'Tavius Mathers, who set the single-season rushing record at MTSU last season, was taken to the hospital on a backboard after sustaining an apparent neck injury on Tuesday in a training practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Mathers was signed as an undrafted free agent by Jacksonville.

Mathers stated the following via Twitter: "Thanks everyone for the prayers I really do appreciate it but I'm fine!!!"

Mathers, a former Tennessee Mr. Football out of Blackman High School, set the Blue Raiders single-season rushing record last season with 1,597 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also caught 66 passes for 633 yards and three touchdowns.
