MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Lady Raider Aislynn Hayes has been named the United States Basketball Writers (USBWA) National Tamika Catchings Freshman of the Week as announced by the association Tuesday.
Hayes, who was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week Monday, averaged 18.5 points and four rebounds in two Lady Raider wins last week. She was selected from a list of Division I conference freshmen player of the week recipients.
Hayes, the daughter of Arnett and Sherry Hayes, earned her first career start against Tennessee Tech and responded with career highs for points (22), field goals (6), 3-point field goals (4), free throws (6) rebounds (6), steals (4) and minutes (35).
