MURFREESBORO – Middle Tennessee offensive coordinator 's former protégé, Jared Goff, was taken Thursday night as the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Goff, coached by Franklin the last three years at Cal, was picked by the Los Angeles Rams and will team up in the backfield with former Blue Raider Benny Cunningham.
Franklin, who also recruited Goff to Cal, was a guest at tonight's draft in Chicago by Goff.
"I believe he's as good a quarterback to come out in the last several years," Franklin told the Daily News Journal in early April.
