Former MTSU baseball pitcher Zac Curtis has been claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies and joined the team when they played host to Miami Tuesday.
Philadelphia placed pitcher Jesen Therrien on the 60-day disabled list in or to make room for Curtis on its 40-man roster.
Curtis, a hard-throwing lefty who worked as a relief pitcher in professional baseball, spent time with the Seattle Mariners and in their minor league organization in 2017 before being designated for assignment earlier this month.
"Great news for Zac Curtis," MTSU baseball coach Jim McGuire said. "I have talked with Zac, and he's very excited for this opportunity with Philadelphia.
