Eight turnovers plague Smyrna in loss to Independence

SMYRNA -- Independence handed the Smyrna Bulldogs their first loss of the year Friday night, winning 21-7 in the Bulldogs' homecoming game.

It was a winnable game for the Bulldogs, who had over 400 yards in total offense and had almost 33 of 48 minutes in time of possession, in comparison to the Eagles with just over 150 yards offense in 15 minutes. However, Smyrna was plagued by untimely penalties and a whopping eight turnovers in the game.

"It was a measuring stick game," said Smyrna head coach Matt Williams. "It was a game where you find out where you're at, and where we are is we have to get more disciplined.
