MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Following a stellar weekend, Middle Tennessee's Abike Egbeniyi was named this week's Conference USA Female Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The junior led a 1, 2 finish for the Blue Raiders in the women's 800-meter run, clocking a 2:05.43 and finishing just ahead of teammate Agnes Abu. Her time ranks first among C-USA in the event and is the ninth-best mark in the country.
Egbeniyi also ran the final leg of MT's 4x400-meter relay team. The squad placed second and broke their own school record set two weeks ago with a time of 3:35.
