MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After a stellar performance during her junior campaign, Abike Egbeniyi has been named the 2018 Conference USA Female Track Athlete of the Year, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
Egbeniyi wrapped up junior season at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, earning a second-place finish in the women's 800-meter event. The Lagos, Nigeria native earned a spot in the finals after earning a qualifying time of 2:03.18. Respectively, Egbeniyi earned first-team All-American honors for her performance in Eugene.
The junior excelled at the Conference USA Outdoor and Indoor Championships this season breaking conference championship records at each competition.
