HOUSTON – Middle Tennessee (15-25, 9-9) gained an early lead but couldn't hold on as the Rice Owls (18-23, 9-9) took game three of the series, 7-5.
Middle Tennessee grabbed two runs in the second inning to grab their first lead of the series, when Tanner Parker and Darien Prewett each grabbed an RBI single. The Blue Raiders would score two more times in the following inning when Benefield and Christian both scored on an error. But the Owls would storm back.
Rice scored twice in the third inning on two RBI hits.
