Choge breaks school record on day one in California

TORRANCE, Calif. – Freshman Jacob Choge broke a new school record and took third, while Amos Cheruiyot claimed a top 10 finish on day one of the Mt. SAC Relays.

Choge clocked a 28:42.31 in the 10000-meter run, breaking a five-year-old school record, and finished as the second-place collegian. His time also currently ranks seventh among NCAA's best in the event.

Cheruiyot kicked off the day for MT with a mark of 29:55.57 in the 10000-meter run for a sixth-place finish.

The Blue Raiders will continue today's events with Hillary Rono and Sampson Laari competing in the 1500-meter run, followed by Abike Egbeniyi and Agnes Abu in the 800-meter run.
