Chemadi Named C-USA Male Athlete of the Year

IRVING, Texas – After a stellar performance during his junior campaign, Kigen Chemadi has been named the 2019 Conference USA Male Track Athlete of the Year, as the league announced Friday afternoon.

Chemadi rounded off his junior slate at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Ainbkoi, Kenya native qualified for two events this year at the national champions, including the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 5,000-meter race. Respectively, Chemadi claimed third-overall in the men's steeplechase event, finishing with a time of 8:40.22, earning first-team All-American honors. Meanwhile in the 5,000-meter, the junior claimed a 16th place finish (14:22.
