Central Magnet baseball wins first-ever state tourney game

SMYRNA -- Central Magnet's late-inning heroics gave the Tigers their first game of the Class AA Spring Fling baseball tournament over District 2 and Region 1 champion Greeneville, 3-2 in 10 innings on Tuesday.

James Touchton pitched 9 2/3 innings for the Tigers with seven strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs.

The Tigers (28-15) will play the winner of the Milan-Spring Hill game on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Greenville will face the loser at 10 a.m.

The Tigers took an early lead in the first after a lead-off single by Jordan Jackson, who soon found third base after a pickoff error by the Devils' pitcher James Duer.
