MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Hard work on the diamond and in the classroom has paid off for Middle Tennessee shortstop Summer Burgess, who was named to Conference USA's All-Academic Team, the league announced Monday.
Burgess graduated with her bachelor's degree in exercise science last year and currently boasts a 4.0 GPA in the Public Health master's program while also being a leader on the softball field for the Blue Raiders.
"Summer's internal drive makes her a great student athlete," MT head coach Jeff Breeden said of the program's all-time leader in hits, games played and games started.
