EUGENE, Oregon – With three Blue Raider male athletes left to compete at the NCAA Championships, the Blue Raiders added six more points to finish ranked 18th at Hayward Field.
Middle Tennessee's 18th-place finish is the second-highest outdoor finish in program history with the 2003 season's 17th-place finish the only higher for the Blue Raider men's squad. MT also earned the highest finish in Conference USA.
Sampson Laari and Eliud Rutto each were slated to race in the 800 meter with hope of building on an already successful season.
Laari fell to the back of the pack and started in lane eight, while Rutto held tight with the leaders through the first 400 meters.
