MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Middle Tennessee was overcome by a tough Minnesota defense and injuries to its two main offensive weapons Saturday, leading to a 34-3 loss in Minneapolis.
The Blue Raiders (1-2) fought well early, and found themselves tied 3-3 with the Gophers (3-0) after a 45-yard Canon Rooker field goal with 10:53 left in the second quarter.
From there, it was all Minnesota. The home team rattled off 31 straight points thanks to a stingy defense and unrelenting rushing attack.
The Gophers, who average 211 yards per game rushing to rank 42nd in the nation, finished with 221 yards on 47 carries for a 4.
