KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee suffered defeat to the Memphis Tigers 6-4 in their first game of the Tri-Star Classic on a chilly night in Knoxville.
Right-handed pitcher Zach Keenan got the start for MT (4-5). The freshman threw 3-1/3 innings, only giving up two earned runs and striking out three.
"I thought (Keenan) did a good job. He battled; he wasn't perfect," said Jim McGuire. "But he's a freshman that got put in a very difficult situation. But I thought he did a good job overall."
Tyler Holcombe relieved Keenan in the fourth inning and had a stellar day on the mound.
