HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Despite a pair of three-run home runs, Middle Tennessee baseball fell 18-7 to Old Dominion in the first game of the 2022 Conference USA Baseball Championship Wednesday.
Both teams combined to hit seven home runs, tying the most home runs hit in a Conference USA championship game since 2007 (Rice vs. Memphis).
Trailing 4-0 in the second, Mason Speirs hit a three-run home run, his team-leading ninth home run of the season, which cut the Blue Raider deficit to one.
A seven-run Monarch fourth inning helped ODU take control at 11-3.
