Blue Raider Nation is mourning Ralph Edwin Massey Jr., 85, of Franklin, who died Monday.
Massey was born in Nashville on July 13, 1935 to Ralph Edwin Massey Sr. and Margaret Blanks Massey.
He attended Central High School in Murfreesboro. Massey was an all-midstate high school football player and from there he was an All-American college football player on the 1957-1958 football team at Middle Tennessee State College.
Rather than pursuing several offers to play pro football, Massey decided instead to serve his country. He served at Bergstrom Air Force Base in the Army in Austin, Texas and then in Thule, Greenland.
