Blackman's baseball team punched its ticket to Spring Fling with a 4-1 victory over Walker Valley at home in a sectional game on Friday night.
"This senior class came in my second year," said Blackman coach Justin Entrekin. "We saw things like this in our future, but we had to work. We had to work while we waited for these things to happen. I wanted them to think about how close we've been to getting out of the district and then on to this year and the run that we are on and what they've accomplished."
Stewarts Creek also returned to the state tournament with a 6-4, 10-inning dramatic win at Ooltewah.
