Blackman struggled to find an early offensive rhythm against Science Hill in the first round of the BlueCross Championships on Wednesday.
However, the Blaze exploded after halftime outscoring the Hilltoppers 22-12 in the third quarter of their 57-34 victory at Murphy Center.
With the win, Blackman advances to the state semifinals where it will face the Memphis East-Hillsboro winner of Friday at 11:30 a.m.
While Blackman wasn't overly productive in the first half, it still led 23-15 at intermission on the strength of its defense.
"We really trying to find our way in the first half," Blackman coach Barry Wortman said.
