Miami picks up Michigan State safety Mark Meyers

Miami picked up yet another graduate transfer for the 2016 season with the addition of Michigan State safety Mark Meyers. Meyers, rated the #27 safety in the country coming out of Whitmer (OH) High School, played in two games last season following a six-game suspension after a OWI arrest. He earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2013.

Meyers' arrival in Oxford this season makes the position battle in the back end of the defense more interesting with the graduation of Brison Burris. With Buchi Okafor returning as the starter at the other safety spot, it seems that the strong safety job is going to come down to the transfer and Tony Reid, who has some experience starting in Miami's secondary.
