OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University field hockey team (11-6, 5-0 MAC) beat conference-foe Appalachian State (5-11, 1-4 MAC) by a 4-1 margin on Saturday to clinch at least a share of the MAC regular season title. With the victory, the RedHawks also clinched the No. 1 seed in the MAC Tournament.
Less than five minutes into the game, Paula Portugal took the ball into the circle and put a backhand shot past Rachel Gaines for her 17th goal of the season to give Miami an early lead.
