CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A vigorous game of offense from both teams brought the Miami University field hockey squad into overtime with the Stanford Cardinal, but a penalty corner in the overtime period proved to be the difference-maker as the RedHawks fell, 5-4, in the NCAA first round on Friday afternoon to close out its spring 2021 season.
The first half was mostly even between Stanford and Miami as the RedHawks edged the Cardinal 4-to-1 in shots, and both teams had a goal apiece.
