AVON, Ohio – No. 4 seed Miami used timely hitting with four home runs, including two by Landon Stephens, and strong pitching by starter Sam Bachman to earn a 8-5 win over No. 3 seed Kent State in the second round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Sprenger Stadium.

Miami took the lead in the third inning as Kyle Winkler doubled and scored on Will Vogelgesan's single to left.
