The Akron Zips extended its winning streak to 10 games after opening MAC play 2-0, defeating Buffalo on the road, 75-71, and Western Michigan at home, 62-53. Akron's 13-2 overall record marks the best start for the Zips in Keith Dambrot's time at the helm, and the Zips' best start in the Division I era. In addition, the Zips rank among the NCAA's best in several statistical categories, including a No. 1 NCAA ranking for 3-point FG defense. Akron has limited opponents to shoot just 24.
