AKRON, Ohio -- Akron received contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Zips put eight runs on the board and knock off the Central Michigan Chippewas 8-1 behind a stellar pitching performance by freshman Madie Jamrog, who gave up only one hit and one run on Wednesday night at Firestone Stadium. With the win, Akron head coach Craig Nicholson recorded his 1,300 career win.

Jamrog (10-6) started in the circle and picked up the win for Akron (29-24).
