EUGENE, Ore. - On the final day of competition at the 2017 NCAA Track & Field Championships, the five MAC student-athletes participating all registered top ten finishes. The day started off with Hope Schmelzle becoming Northern Illinois' first track and field All-American. The senior finished sixth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9.55:49. The MAC continued to shine in the distance events with Eastern Michigan's Alsu Bogdanova finishing as the NCAA Runner-Up in the 5000m. The three-time MAC MVP finished in 15:43.84, taking first team All-America accolades. In the field, Kent State's Danniel Thomas picked up her second All-America honors of the week with a fourth-place finish in the discus, throwing 56.
