IOWA CITY, Iowa – The CMU field hockey team dropped a 5-3 nonconference decision to Columbia at Iowa's Grant Field on Saturday.
The loss left the Chippewas 2-2. It was the Lions' season opener.
How It Happened
Columbia scored three goals in the second quarter to overcome an early 2-0 deficit. CMU never regained the lead, but managed to cut its deficit to 4-3 before the Lions scored an empty-net goal to ice it.
