What was once old is new again.
The University of Akron athletic department announced Tuesday afternoon it will bring back baseball —previously disbanded in 2016— for the 2019-2020 academic year. season. Women’s lacrosse will also be added in the same time period.
The baseball team would rejoin the Mid-American Conference and play its home conference and non-conference games at Canal Park. The university is currently considering options for conference affiliation in women’s lacrosse, but the team is expected to compete at InfoCision Stadium.
There are already two other full-time MAC members in women’s lacrosse in Central Michigan and Kent State.
