Bowling Green, Ohio - After Wednesday's opening session the University of Akron leads the 2016 Mid-American Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The Zips earned 74 points, followed by Eastern Michigan with 66 points and Buffalo with 64 points.

Akron picked up the first win of the championships and set a MAC record in the process, by clocking a 1:37.28 in the 200 Medley Relay. Seniors Ashley Niznik and Hannah Raspopovich were members of the 2015 team who set the meet record. They are joined this year by freshmen Madison Myers and Sadie Fazekas.
