CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Central Michigan Chippewas have been selected to be the 2018 Mid-American Conference Champions. Results of the poll were announced Thursday by the conference office and were voted on by the league's head coaches.
CMU finished third at the MAC Championships last season with a score of 196.100. The Chippewas sent two gymnasts to the NCAA Championships, Denelle Pedrick on vault and Katy Clements on beam.
Kent State grabbed the number two spot in the preseason poll. The Golden Flashes' roster features 14 gymnasts returning from last season's team, which finished 3-3 in Mid-American Conference meets and qualified for the NCAA Regional competition for the ninth time in the past 10 years.
