2017 NIT Bracket : The Akron Zips Advance to The Second Round to take on The UT Arlington Mavericks

Noah Robotham sank his free throws down the stretch to clinch the win for the 7th seed Akron Zips. It was a closely contested game where neither team had more than a 7 point lead. MAC Player of the Year Isaiah Johnson led the Zips with 21 points.

The Zips next opponent, the UT Arlington Mavericks, used a career high 24 points from Drew Charles to knock off the 3 seeded BYU Cougars. The Sun Belt regular season champs got 22 from Kevin Hervey, and 20 from Kaelon Wilson.
