Kent State did everything but put the ball in the basket in the first half. They shot a miserable 25% from the floor. They held a 28-19 rebounding edge, and only committed 2 turnovers. After Kent went up by 6 with 7:03 left in the first half, the Terriers were able to claw their way back into the game. They were helped in large part because Kent went 6 minutes without a field goal.
After leading 30-28 at intermission, Kent State was never able to get the lead over 6 in the second half. The final margin of 7 was their largest lead of the game.
