The tournament opener entertained as the teams had 22 hits between them, but a three-run shot from the RedHawks made the difference
The opening game of the 2016 MAC Tournament proved to be an entertaining match-up between the third and sixth seeded teams in the conference as Miami downed Central Michigan 10-5. The RedHawks (26-27, 14-10 MAC) goes on to face the winner of two-seed Ball State and seven-seed Chippewas (21-35, 12-12 MAC) at 4:30 tomorrow, while Central Michigan takes on the loser of that game at 9:30 a.m. in an elimination game.
The Chips struck quickly with an RBI that was preceded by a triple by first baseman Alex Borglin that was enabled by a misplayed ball by Miami outfielder Jake Romano in the first inning.
