What We Learned From Michigan's 33-17 Win Over Florida

The Michigan Wolverines shook off a slow start and stepped up with an outstanding performance, dominating the Florida Gators on their way to a 33-17 victory - and the game didn't feel that close. Despite having the fewest returning starters in the country, Michigan made a statement that they will be one of the best teams in the country again this year. Here are the three biggest takeaways from the win:

1) Tarik Black will be a playmaker
Michigan came into this game with plenty of question marks at wide receiver due to the inexperience at the position. The passing game still looks to be a work in progress, but Black proved to be the big play threat. He only ended up with two catches, but those two catches went for 82 yards and this long touchdown:

Is he Michigan's No. 1 receiver? No - and it doesn't look like he's going to be. However, his catches - that TD and an incredible over-the-shoulder catch down the sideline - showcased his big play ability. That will be something the Wolverines will look to utilize moving forward.

2) Ty Isaac is going to be the lead running back
The Wolverines came into this game expecting to rotate three or four different backs, but Isaac was clearly the most impressive of the group. He only got 11 carries (Chris Evans ran the ball 22 times with Karan Higdon doing so seven times), but outpaced both with 114 yards (the other two combined for 106). Isaac was productive with virtually every one of his carries and has earned lead back duties at this point. Evans and Higdon will continue to get opportunities, but this is Isaac's backfield.

3) Michigan's defense is the real deal
There were a number of concerns about Michigan's youth on defense going into this Florida game. They have plenty of talent, but how long would it take for them to get up to speed after replacing 10 starters? Well, it took no time at all.

Florida's offense has struggled over the last few years, but they were absolutely putrid in this contest - thanks to the play of Michigan's defense. The Wolverines limited the Gators to 192 total yards, including just 11 on the ground, and three points (Florida scored two defensive touchdowns). Those are elite numbers to put up against anyone, let alone the No. 17 team in the country. This unit will be one of the best in the country again.
