These Are The 3 Bowl Games Michigan Is The Most Likely To Play In

The Michigan Wolverines won't be playing in the College Football Playoff this season and won't be in a New Year's Six Bowl, but they'll still be in a solid bowl game. There's still a wide variety of options for them - though the Citrus Bowl is out since they played in it two seasons ago - but virtually all will be in the days leading up to New Year's Eve. So, where can they expect to play? Here are the 3 most likely bowl games for Michigan this year.

Outback Bowl (Big Ten vs. SEC)
Mon., Jan. 1, 12:00 p.m. ET
Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL

This would be the best-case scenario for Michigan, getting to travel to Florida to take on a quality team from the SEC (Outback Bowl gets the third choice of SEC teams). The Wolverines last played in this game on New Year's Day in 2013, falling to South Carolina. Should they get to play in this game, they will likely face either LSU or Mississippi State.

San Diego County Credit Holiday Bowl (Big Ten vs. Pac-12)
Thurs., Dec. 28, 9:00 p.m. ET
SDCCU Stadium, San Diego, CA

If I had to guess, this will likely be the bowl game Michigan plays in this year. The Wolverines have played a bowl game in Florida each of the last two seasons and the Outback Bowl could go to either Penn State or the loser of the Big Ten Championship Game (depending on the final CFP rankings). This would also provide the best matchup for the Wolverines, where they would likely face either USC, Stanford, or Washington.

TaxSlayer Bowl (Big Ten vs. SEC)
Sat., Dec. 30, 12:00 p.m. ET
EverBank Field, Jacksonville, FL

This bowl isn't as prestigious as the Outback Bowl and they wouldn't face as good of a team as they would on New Year's Day, but Michigan would still get a great matchup from a quality SEC team - and fans would love the chance to add another win like that on their resume. South Carolina, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M are all possible opponents in this game.
