Juwan Howard received an innocuous question about recruiting on the eve of his first season as a college basketball coach.

Howard, who was hired in May to replace John Beilein at Michigan, has spoken plenty of times about his adjustment to recruiting. In the summer, he marveled at how much things have changed since he was a highly touted prospect from Chicago's South Side, with multiple interlocutors between schools and recruits.
