Roughly two weeks ago, Greg Holcomb received a call from Jim McCarthy.
Holcomb, a private coach in Illinois who runs Next Level Athletix Quarterback Training, works with J.J. McCarthy, a five-star prospect considered one of the top recruits in the country.
McCarthy's father, Jim, had a request for Holcomb: He wanted a letter of recommendation for his son.
Holcomb's initial reaction was that the letter would be for Elite 11, the annual quarterback competition held at the Nike World Headquarters.
