Michigan basketball's senior point guard and multi-year captain lied to officers when he crashed the SUV of the wife of the Michigan athletic director last week, police say.

Zavier Simpson, 22, of Ohio isn’t facing a charge for lying to police. He was, however, suspended from play for a single game and issued a civil infraction.

Police were patrolling about 3 am. Jan. 26 when they spotted a disabled vehicle in the area of Hill Street and South Forest Avenue in Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor police Lt.
