What Tommy Carr’s second start revealed about Michigan’s QB situation

Tommy Carr played better in his second start, good enough to preserve his status as Michigan’s starting quarterback.

On the latest episode of the Wolverine Confidential podcast, MLive’s beat writers recap the narrow win over Rutgers and Carr’s outstanding performance.

How much weight should we put on it?

“He looked really poised and comfortable back there,” co-host Ryan Zuke said. “His escapability and his ability to scramble is really impressive.”

Enough, apparently. Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham named Carr the Wolverines’ starting quarterback for the “foreseeable future,” a sign that the staff is sticking with the true freshman over former five-star recruit Bryce Underwood.
