Trieu: Michigan football making push for Minnesota two-way standout Jaxon Howard

Special to The Detroit News

Jaxon Howard has a spreadsheet he consults that tells him when the last time he spoke to certain college coaches was and includes reminders to call certain coaches back. That has been a necessary piece of organization for a recruit with 60 scholarship offers.

After many unofficial visits — 41 last summer — and conversations with those coaches, the New Hope (Minnesota) Robbinsdale Cooper defensive end/tight end has narrowed his field to four: LSU, Minnesota, Miami (Florida) and Michigan.

A highly regarded two-way athlete, Howard is now leaning more to defensive line in college, and that will be an important piece of the conversation as he looks to get from four down to one school he will commit to in the summer.
