The 2023 season signaled the biggest reset of the P.J. Fleck era at Minnesota. Following its second consecutive 9-4 season in 2022, Fleck and Minnesota lost sixth-year quarterback Tanner Morgan, the program’s all-time leading rusher in Mo Ibrahim, three key offensive linemen and a plethora of players from a defense that ranked fourth nationally in points allowed.
However, Fleck and his team didn’t throw in the towel. No, the Golden Gophers scratched, clawed and fought their way to a 6-7 record, and even brought home a victory in the Quick Lane Bowl.
Now, the majority of those players who fought through the tough times last season are back and in pursuit of their first 10-win season since 2019.
