While Jim Harbaugh’s departure to the NFL left incredibly difficult shoes to fill, Jay Harbaugh’s departure won’t be easy for Sherrone Moore to replace either. Over his tenure at Michigan, Jay coached tight ends, running backs, safeties, and special teams. Most recently, he was the special teams coordinator in 2023, along with coaching the safeties. Under Harbaugh the younger, special teams were among the country’s elite over the past few seasons at Michigan.

Brown has been an analyst working with the special teams unit for the past few years. Prior to that, he had been the special teams coordinator at Texas Southern after grad assistant stints at Kansas and Houston.
