Michigan needed more than Moe Wagner and Charles Matthews to win their seventh straight. They got it.
Six players scored in double figures as the Wolverines overcame a sluggish first half to beat Illinois, 79-69, at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor on Saturday.
"I don't think it's essential that they have to be stars for us to win, as you can see today," Michigan coach John Beilein said of Wagner and Matthews.
